Contribution to Congregation’s Vision
Bible instruction is a means of challenging the entire
membership to become involved in the “work of the church” making an
impact on ministering to the “whole man” thereby meeting the needs of
the Bloomington-Normal community and beyond.
Bible instruction is a means of teaching and training
men to become future Elders and Deacons.
Bible instruction is one of the most effective vehicles
for the fellowship and outreach to meet the spiritual and physical needs
of our community, providing an opportunity to meet out objective of
evangelizing the world (Matthew 28:19-20).
The essence of Christian Education as a distinct area of study and action
in the church rests upon the assumption that the Church of Christ has,
of necessity, a teaching function. The church must teach, just as it must
preach, or it will not be the church. Christian Education is designed
to foster and facilitate spiritual church growth and development. One
of the keys to that growth and development is found in the Bible in Ephesians
4. It is imperative to “keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
We often forget that in church growth and development, the elevator can
go in both directions, UP and DOWN. It takes more patience, more wisdom,
and more work in developing and training the church to grow as it should.
At the core of that process is the study, understanding and application
of God’s word (1 Peter 2:2)
The preaching of God’s word necessitates a strong, growing Bible School,
with an effective program for Christian education. Our goals must be founded
on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and a strict obedience to God’s
word. Our Education Ministry must attempt to enlist every member of the
congregation in classes for training and development. It is the responsibility
of the Education Ministry leader to recruit, train and maintain a competent
of spiritual teachers to carry out this great task. The ministry leader
is to be responsible for providing training for persons of all ages, so
they may grow in the knowledge, understanding and application of the gospel
of Jesus Christ, and thereby become better equipped for daily living as
His disciples (Ephesians 4:11-14).
A strong Bible curriculum is indispensable to any effective ministry of
Christian education. An efficient Bible school provides instruction in
Christian living for the entire family, where growing persons of all ages
learn the purpose of God and His kingdom through: STUDY; WORSHIP; SHARING; SERVICE; FRIENDSHIP FELLOWSHIP; LOVE
