We are commanded to assemble on the first day of every week (Acts 20:7).
When we assemble, it is important that nothing should hinder or prevent
our worship to God. The facilities (building) used for worship should
encourage and invite people to come in to worship God in spirit and in
truth. However, it is important to understand that Biblical definition
of the church is not the building. The word church comes from the Greek
word "Ecclesia" which is defined as "an assembly,” or “called out ones.”
The root meaning of “church” is not that of a building, but of people.
The church is the Body of Christ. Ephesians 1:22-23 says, "And He put
all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all
things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills
all in all."
