About the Benevolence Ministry
Purpose:
To provide assistance to those who have need of the basics of life (food,
clothing, shelter, etc) but are unable to provide for themselves due to
circumstances beyond their control.
Responsibilities:
Work with the various community services agencies and utilize designated
Central Pointe resources to meet the needs of legitimate benevolence
cases within the Central Pointe family membership, as well as within
our Bloomington-Normal community, within the parameters of our stated
benevolence guidelines.
Identify benevolence cases through observations, referrals, and direct
requests.
Give assisted person(s) direction to help them to be self-sufficient
beyond the benevolence assistance.
Provide spiritual direction for the assisted person(s), as appropriate.
Ministry Goals
Establish a network and relationship with community agencies in order
to better serve the benevolence needs of our community.
Contribution to the Congregations Vision
All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling
their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. (Acts
2:44-45 NIV)
This ministry contributes directly to the congregations vision of ministering
to the whole man.
As we student the life of Jesus, this was his practice meeting physical
and spiritual needs of those with whom he came in contact. As the body
of Christ at Central Pointe, our goal is to follow this practice.
This ministry is designed to meet the physical needs (food, clothing,
etc.) of our members as well as members of our community AND to empower
them to become self-sufficient.
