A Mighty God With A Mighty Name
In Proverbs 18:10 the proverbial writer writes the name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous runneth into it and is safe. I want to suggest to you, CP Family, that our God we serve is not only a mighty God, but he has power in HIS name. The word name or the fact that one is given a name is given to give identity. It identifies one. This name when given a name, it gives recall to memory. A name gives specificity or it specifies. A name differentiates one from another. It gives an assertion of what makes someone or something different. For example, this person is different because of their looks. That’s their makeup. Their different because of their abilities. That’s what they do. Nobody looks like this person, no one walks like this person, no one talks like this person because they’re different. And so, to show the difference we give names. The point I want to make about what the proverbial writer is saying here church is that we are not even talking about God at His body, His being. We are simply talking about the power in HIS name. We know the power in His might because He created heaven and earth. We know the power in His being because He made man from dirt. He breathed into man and man became a living soul. We know the power of God’s hands because He created the mountains, the oceans, the seas. But what we want to focus on today is that there is power in His name. His Name, the text suggests is a strong tower that provides protection and safety. It’s a place of elevation above your enemies. The bible says that the righteous run to it. In other words, the righteousness or the righteous recognizes this name. That’s because their familiar with it. The righteous responds to this name. That’s because they have a desire. The righteous runs to this tower because it provokes action in the believer and they ultimately respond because there is benefits. There is safety…there is a reward of safety in the tower in the Name. I want you to understand that we must get inside in order to receive the safety that’s in the strong tower. And finally let us remember that salvation is on the inside. We have a God who has a mighty name and it is a strong tower that brings security to His people. Let us rejoice in the name of the Lord.
God Bless.
