On August 8, 1983, out of 12,500 applicants for its freshman class, Harvard University accepted 2,200 new students. Among them was a very unusual applicant, a young man from Booneville, California, who had skipped school for the past eleven years and had spent his time raising goats and studying at home. The unusual boy did not watch television because there was no electricity in his home. Yet despite all this, his admissions test scores were in the top 5 percent. When he was interviewed by a local newspaper, he said, “They didn’t take me because I was intelligent. They took me because I was unique.”
God offers to take you into His family; not because you are intelligent, or perfect…”for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). He offers salvation and kinship simply because you are made in His image (Genesis 1:27)…”fearfully and wonderfully made” (Ps. 139:14).
Christ accepts all who apply…because YOU ARE UNIQUE!
